Nigeria Afrobeats superstar, Davido has been chosen included in TIME100 Next 2021 most influential people.
According to TIME, Davido is one of the biggest voices in Afrobeats because his music connects with people, often in ways that transcend expectations.
TIME also appraised the hit maker for the significant role he plays during the #EndSARS protest that took place in October, 2020. The song "FEM", which he releaser in 2020 became a major protest anthem during the protest, as youth protested together to put an end to police brutality. FEM, which translates to "shut up" in Yoruba was symbolic.
TIME also extolled his album, "A Good Time" which surpassed over a billion streams in 2020, and Davido's efforts in pushing Afrobeat to global stage.
TIME100 Next list is an expansion of the popular TIME100, a list that contains the top 100 most influential people on the planet. According to TIME, TIME100 Next highlights 100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future.
TIME also stated the indivbiduals on the list provided "clear-eyed hope" amid the global pandemic, deepening inequality, systemic injustice and existential questions about truth, democracy and the planet itself.
