Kate Winslet Reveals that She Almost Died While Filming "Avatar 2"

Hollywood actress, Kate Winslet has revealed that she though she had died after submerging in water for seven minutes while filming for Avatar 2.

Kate, 45, who plays Ronal in the movie, confessed in an interview with Observer Magazine that she couldn't think about anything while being submerged in the tank. Kate further revealed that it was wonderful being underwater for such a long period of time even though she knew how dangerous it could be after undergoing some diving training with her husband, Ned Rocknroll for the film.

Kate said;

"God, it's just wonderful. Your mind completely drifts off. You can't think about anything, you can't make lists in your head, you're just looking at the bubbles underneath you... My first words [when I resurfaced] were, "'Am I dead?"' Yes, I though I'd died".

Speaking of the training, Kate said Ned struggled with spending as much time under water.

"You have to have someone there. Ned trained with me and he got quite good at the breath holding as well. But he did...black out"

Avatar producer, Jon Landau shared some pics of Kate displaying her free-diving skills during filming of the sequel in 2018. Kate said she had to learn how to free-dive specifically for the role in Avatar.

"That was just incredible. My longest breath hold was seven minutes and 14 seconds, like crazy, crazy stuff".

With her feat, Kate Winslet becomes the actor with the longest breath hold, beating Tom Cruise's record of six minutes when he submerged for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.
