Award winning actress, Cicely Tyson has died at the ripe age of 96.
Cicely, who was known for starring in TV series and theater films passed on Thursday afternoon, January 28, 2021.
Her manager, Larry Thompson announced her death in the afternoon, and pleaded with concerned parties to allow the family some time to mourn the icon. The cause of death is unknown, but we suspect that she died of natural causes.
Tyson made her debut in the 1957 classic movie, "Twelve Angry Men", where she played a minor role. She later followed up with movies like "Odds Against Tomorrow", "The Comedians", "The Last Angry Man", and so forth.
In her seven decades off acting career, Tyson won three Emmys out of 15 nominations and became the first African-American to receive an honorary Oscar. She was inducted into American Theater Hall of Fame and Television Academy's Hall of Fame.
Cicely only married once in her lifetime, but it ended seven years later. She married Miles Davies, a jazz trumpeter in 1981.
Her colleagues paid heartwarming tributes as they described her as one of the best to grace the film industry.
